Independent Living
Independent living communities are designed to fit the active lifestyles of seniors ages 55 and up, but offer the added benefit of supportive services like meals, housekeeping, and activities. St. Paul’s has two independent living communities, which feature central dining areas, community spaces, libraries, resort-style amenities, and scheduled social programs. Seniors can select a studio, one or two bedroom apartment, and maintain their privacy while having access to all of the amenities.
A Lifestyle Fit For Every San Diego Senior
St. Paul’s Senior Services offers a wide range of services, communities, and programs designed to fit the needs of San Diego’s aging population. Since 1960, St. Paul’s has continued to expand services for seniors, which now include independent retirement communities, assisted living, memory care support, day programs, skilled nursing, and St. Paul’s PACE. We do our best to ensure every senior has options as to where and how they live.
Assisted Living
Assisted living communities provide necessary services for seniors that need assistance, including meals, laundry, housekeeping, medication management, and various levels of care. These may include managed medical care, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Assisted living facilities are best for seniors that need some supervision and daily care, but not at the level of a skilled nursing facility. St. Paul’s has two assisted living communities in San Diego.
Memory Care
Memory care is a more specialized environment within an assisted living community, providing higher levels of support services for those with Alzheimer’s Disease or other types of dementia. St. Paul’s has two memory care communities and one day program for seniors with dementia.

Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing facilities are for those with medical needs that require around-the-clock monitoring and care, typically on a short-term basis after release from the hospital. Residents often live in a semi-private room and meals are provided in-room or in a community dining setting. St. Paul’s has a newly remodeled skilled nursing and rehabilitation community in Bankers Hill, offering physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.
Senior Day Programs
A senior day program is for those with mild to moderate memory loss that need supervision during the day while their caregivers are at work, or taking much needed time for themselves. Day programs offer meals, activities, supervised outings, and socialization. St. Paul’s has an Intergenerational Senior Day Program and a Child Care Program.
St. Paul’s PACE
St. Paul’s PACE Program is a managed medical plan that helps seniors meet their health care needs in their home and in the community instead of in a nursing home or other elder care facility. PACE stands for Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly and it truly is all-inclusive. With St. Paul’s PACE, seniors have a team of medical experts and health care professionals working directly with them and their family to ensure they get the most effective plan of care.
