Award-winning Memory Care Communities in San Diego

St. Paul’s Senior Services offers our Reflections Memory Care program in two of our award-winning communities: St. Paul’s Plaza and The Villa on Bankers Hill. We are confident that this program will offer your loved one the lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of for them.

What makes Reflections unique?

We focus on our residents' abilities, not their disabilities. This mindset inspires us to celebrate life’s beautiful moments with them, knowing that individuals with memory impairment continue to experience true joy. At St. Paul’s, we understand that every senior has unique needs and preferences. That’s why we personalize our care approaches to support their independence and happiness.

Our program is rooted in the “REFLECT” model of care. This framework guides how we serve our residents and nurture a culture of compassion. Our “Pillars of Care” form the foundation for this model, representing four key aspects of memory care services

REFLECT Model of Care

The "REFLECT" model of care is our blueprint for cultivating a safe, secure, and compassionate memory care environment. Each letter signifies a specific approach our staff is trained to follow. You can trust that your loved one will feel valued, respected and comforted within our loving community. Our commitment to nurturing a culture of compassion is our top priority.

  • Respect the individual dignity of every person.
  • Empathize with residents to understand their feelings.
  • Fulfill our promise of exceptional memory care.
  • Listen to ensure that residents feel heard.
  • Engage in activities with openness and enthusiasm.
  • Comfort with love to sooth and console.
  • Tailor our services to meet residents’ needs.

Pillars of Care

Our Reflections program was designed by experts in cognitive therapies, activities, medical care and communications – four key areas of memory care. To address these areas holistically and ensure that our care is comprehensive, we developed our “Pillars of Care.”

Each pillar focuses on an essential aspect of support for seniors with memory impairment. We provide education and training programs for staff and families around each pillar.

Compassionate Transitioning

Adjusting to a new environment with unfamiliar faces can be nerve-wracking for seniors with memory impairment. At Reflections, calming aromatherapy scents are spread throughout our hallways, and relaxing background music is played to help new residents feel at ease in their new home. These are just a few examples of compassionate transitioning, but our efforts don’t stop there!

We’ll invite you to complete a personal biography for your loved one. This will help us get to know them more so that we can personalize their experience. What are their favorite hobbies?

What makes them laugh? What kind of music do they like? We’ll create a custom playlist just for them.

Best of all, having your loved one’s biography will allow us to spark meaningful conversations throughout the day. It’s fun for us, reassuring for you, and a joy for them!

Family Engagement

Memory impairment can make it difficult sometimes to interact with or bond with a loved one. We understand the complexities of this and are here to help guide you. We host weekly family support groups, compliments of Alzheimer’s San Diego, and can recommend additional resources for support. We also have an on-site chaplain who can accompany you on this journey.

Families tell us how much they especially love our custom communication plan, where we provide regular updates on your parent’s progress. We’ll also tell you about upcoming events and activities for you to join as your schedule allows.

If you’d like to share a meal with your parent, you are always welcome to. Our communities are equipped with private kitchens if the family chef wants to cook Dad’s favorite meal!

Quality Caregiving

At St. Paul’s, our commitment to delivering exceptional care starts with our nurses and caregivers, who undergo thorough background checks and participate in ongoing training programs to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques in memory care. They are experts in fostering meaningful connections and effectively communicating with memory-impaired seniors. Most importantly, our caregivers truly love spending time with our residents.

We know it can be difficult handing the reins over to us, but know that your parent's safety and well-being will be our top priorities. With certified staff on-site 24/7, you’ll get to be the kid again, and we’ll take care of the rest.
